Brisbane Requiem
STORY BEHIND THE ITEM
Carved in wood as a tribute to my first Australian home, this sculpture merges memory, landscape and myth into one flowing form. The river becomes a brown snake winding through the city’s heart, the exalted kangaroo rises from the bush, and above them, the Southern Cross watches over.
This piece reflects both the stillness and the pulse of Brisbane, a place where water, wildlife, and human stories intertwine. Brisbane Requiem won 1st Prize, in October 2025, in the 'sculptural carving' category, at the Bribie Art Competition.
